Resistance training helps to keep bones and muscles strong to maintain mobility, balance and to reduce the risk of falls. You can join my online workouts for FREE live Mon-Thu 7am or at any time on-demand. I will take you through three simple exercises designed for all ages and abilities. You determine the level of intensity, and whether you want to maintain or build muscle, through your choice of equipment; you could use two tins of baked beans (0.4kg each) or load up an Olympic bar.
The workout will last 30 minutes and is followed by a 15 minute stretch with meditation. Taking just a few minutes a day to relax and blow your stresses away can improve your overall health and emotional wellbeing.
You will need:
Water.
Either an exercise mat or towel.
If your balance is not great I recommend having a chair nearby.
Weights; either two hand weights or a barbell.
Have something to eat before hand - I usually have a coffee and a banana.
I don't play music as everyone has their own taste so feel free to play your own.
